WASHINGTON (TNND) — Hundreds of former Department of Homeland Security employees have endorsed former President Donald Trump.

The endorsement, which came in an open letter addressed to “America,” lists 214 names described as “honorably retired career civil servant[s].” The letter says that Trump is the only presidential candidate the endorsers can trust to secure American borders.

Trump listened to the advice of border security “professionals” and respected their experience, according to the endorsers

“When border security experts explained to President Trump how illegal immigration empowers the cartels to control who and what enters our home, he listened and acted,” the letter reads.

The letter also claimed the Trump administration supported policies and programs that reduced illegal immigration, instilled “integrity” into the U.S.’s immigration system and made sure the federal government was doing everything possible to control who and what entered the country.

“The borders of the U.S. were never more secure than they were during the Trump administration,” the letter continues.

Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have “distinctly different track records” on national security, according to the endorsers. It’s for that reason voters don’t need to speculate about what the candidates would do if elected, the letter says.

“On November 5th you will select a new president to lead us. The single most important factor when evaluating the candidates should be ensuring the safety and security of the United States,” the letter notes. “Of the countless issues to consider, every one of them is dependent upon our national security.”

“Idealist political appointees” of the Biden administration were empowered to implement “disastrous” and “deadly” border security policies under Harris’s leadership, according to the endorsers.

They wrote that the results include giving “complete control” of the U.S.’s borders to cartels, which had “astronomical record profits.”

Backlogs for immigration proceedings also rose, while the number of people crossing into the U.S. illegally increased, the letter says.

“We encourage every American to take a lesson from law enforcement and simply follow the evidence of the last eight years,” the endorsers wrote. “The first four resulted in the most secure border in history and the other has resulted in significant increases in the loss of life and record illegal immigration.”

The Harris campaign did not return a request for comment from The National News Desk.
