Generation Z is the most misinformed generation in the history of man. Before all you young folks get all worked up in a frenzy, please note that I am speaking in general terms.
Every time I turn around there’s a member of Generation Z there to remind me that they live in the informational age. This is a correct statement. Information, unlike any other time in history, is readily available with a few strokes of any technological apparatus.
The world wide web, smart phones, podcasts, and everything you can imagine is readily available to keep anyone in this present age “informed.” However, the fact that information is readily available does not guarantee that one will be properly informed.
For example, information from echo chambers equals a very one-sided “informed” person. Information from celebrities or social media “influencers” by mere definition means one has been influenced by someone else. Information from unvetted sources, just because it is readily available, does not (in itself) make it factual.
Right before the 2024 Presidential election, a news media outlet was doing a “random” Generation Z focus group panel interview. The young people were all arrogantly claiming that their vote matters because they come from the informational age.
On the topic of immigration, they were regurgitating “information” and talking points that they heard left wing politicians repeat. They were insistent that no borders should exist, they claimed that there is no such thing as an illegal human being and stating (my favorite) that Jesus was a refugee. It was clear to me that this generational panel was “informed” on left-wing propaganda.
This “informed” generation had no clue about the U.S. Constitution. This “informed” generation had no clue about the Immigration and Nationality Act as the binding law that dictates (or should) our nation’s immigration policies. This “informed” generation spoke of Jesus as a refugee but knew very little about Biblical authority or history.
This “informed” generation took their one-sided information and voted in great number for Biden in 2020. To their credit, in 2024 they voted in not so great a number for Kamala Harris. You know why they didn’t vote in great numbers for Harris? It is called experience! They experienced 4 years of their “informed decision of 2020.”
They see the chaos at the border, the trafficking of children, the increased illegal alien crime, and the drug epidemic getting worse. There is no replacing personal experience! We older folk may not have been blessed with information at the tip of our fingers, but we have experienced a thing or two.
We older folk also know that when we hear information to at least check its validity, check the sources, and listen to all sides. Unfortunately, when I say “we older folk” I am speaking in general terms as well.
