Donald Trump reportedly told his former White House doctor that the immigration chart he turned to at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday was the reason he survived his assassination attempt.
The former president spoke to Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas a few hours after the shooting in Butler on Saturday, in which one person died and two others were injured.
Trump credited a chart on illegal border crossings, projected onto large screens behind him, was the reason he survived the attack. He had just turned to glance at the graphic in the split second before the shot was fired, with the bullet grazing his cheek and ear.
“He goes, ‘The border patrol saved my life,'” Dr. Jackson told The New York Times of his call with Trump on Sunday. “‘I was going over that border patrol chart.’ He said, ‘If I hadn’t pointed at that chart and turned my head to look at it, that bullet would have hit me right in the head.'”
